2025 35th Annual Rocky Mountain Koi Show and Aquatic Expo

  • Douglas County Fairgrounds 500 Fairgrounds Road Castle Rock, CO, 80104 United States (map)

The 2025 35th Annual Rocky Mountain Koi Show and Aquatic Expo will be held on Labor Day Weekend at the Douglas County Fairgrounds - 500 Fairgrounds Rd, Castle Rock, CO 80104, in the Large Animal Barn (new building for 2025!)

General Information

What to expect - This is a FREE family friendly event, bring your kids, grandkids, friends, neighbors, and family.  You'll see around 30, 500 gallon classic blue tanks with some of the most beautiful and highest quality koi that are not only from around Colorado but from other states as well.  Some of the fish are worth many tens of thousands of dollars, so if you've never been to a koi show this is a unique opportunity.

Around the show you'll meet volunteers who are happy to tell you about the koi and we'll have educational materials (including actual koi teeth) for your educational pleasure.

We'll also likely have aquatic items, such as art, food, books, chemicals, pumps, filters, etc. for your pond and aquariums.  This year we're expanding our footprint and are thrilled to welcome vendors who support the aquarium hobby for both freshwater and saltwater fish and reef keepers.

We some of our "wet" koi vendors come from across the country to make available some high quality koi from Japan.  If you purchase one of those fish prior to 9am on Saturday, you can even enter it into our Koi Show to compete for awards.

We will have a silent auction, limited edition Koi Show Pins (hot collector's item!), and other goodies.

Entertainment - We're still putting together details for the entertainment this year but we'll absolutely have our koi mascot walking around, who will be happy to pose for pictures!  Stay tuned for more details that will be posted here.

We will have some speakers talking about aquatic topics, some topics in years past have included koi health, food, and other interesting discussions.

On Sunday we will have a walk through with our official ZNA judges who will walk around to various tanks and talk about the fish and their thoughts and they performed their judging duties.  Learn what they look for, what was good and not so good about various fish.  Feel free to ask questions!

Food - We are looking to have a coffee cart available on Saturday morning, at least one food truck that will be around for lunch on Saturday and possibly beyond.  We will have an opportunity for folks to welcome and meet our judges at our Judge's welcome dinner on Friday night, and we will have our Award Dinner on Saturday night, tickets are available now through our Club Store, details about food etc. to come.

Awards - For the last few years the Rocky Mountain Koi Show gained international attention for our incredible awards (which may or may not have caused grown men to act out their childhood fantasy of being king of the wrestling ring).  This year we are again raising the bar and offering some incredible and unique Colorado inspired top awards.  YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS OUT...become an exhibitor and enter your koi!

As in prior years, we will have an award dinner and ceremony on Saturday night after the show.  Details are still pending so keep checking back but we're looking to raise the bar this year for the dinner!  Tickets can be purchased in our Club Store, which will get you a wrist band that is required for entry.

Lodging - We have hotel room blocks at two local hotels this year.  The Holiday Inn Express at 610 Genoa Way in Castle Rock CO and Best Western at 595 Genoa Way in Castle Rock CO.  These discounts are good till the cutoff date of July 29th at 3pm Mountain or until there are no more rooms left in the discounted block.  Here are the links:
